  • Introduction to Various Common Properties of PP Nonwoven Fabric Dec 05, 2025
Introduction to Various Common Properties of PP Non woven Fabric (1) Physical properties: PP non-woven fabric is a non-toxic, odorless, milky white high crystalline polymer, which is currently one of the lighter varieties among all plastics. It is particularly stable to water, with a water absorption rate of only 0.01% after 14 hours in water. The molecular weight is between 80000 and 150000, and the formability is good. However, due to the high shrinkage rate, the original wall products are prone to indentation, and the surface of the products has good gloss and is easy to color. (2) Mechanical properties: PP non-woven fabric has high crystallinity and regular structure, thus possessing excellent mechanical properties. Its strength, hardness, and elasticity are all higher than high-density PE (HDPE). The outstanding feature is its resistance to bending fatigue (7 × 10 ^ 7), which allows for easy opening and closing without any damage marks. Its dry friction coefficient is similar to nylon, but it is not as good as nylon under oil lubrication. (3) Thermal performance: PP non-woven fabric has good heat resistance, with a melting point of 164-170 ℃. The product can be disinfected and sterilized at temperatures above 100 ℃. Under no external force, it does not deform at 150 ℃. The embrittlement temperature is -35 ℃, and embrittlement occurs below -35 ℃. Its heat resistance is not as good as PE. (4) Chemical stability: PP non-woven fabric has good chemical stability. In addition to being corroded by acids, it is relatively stable to various other chemical reagents. However, low molecular weight fatty hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, etc. can soften and swell PP non-woven fabric. The chemical stability also increases with the increase of crystallinity. So, PP non-woven fabric is suitable for making Russian Chinese chemical pipelines and fittings, with good anti-corrosion effect. (5) Electrical performance: Non woven fabric has excellent high-frequency insulation performance. Due to its almost no water absorption, its insulation performance is not affected by humidity. It has a high dielectric constant and can be used to make heated electrical insulation products with high breakdown voltage. It is suitable for use as electrical accessories, etc. Good resistance to voltage and arc, but high static electricity and easy aging when in contact with copper. (6) Weather resistance: Non woven fabrics are highly sensitive to ultraviolet radiation. Adding zinc oxide thiopropionate dilaurate, carbon black like milky white fillers, etc. can improve their aging resistance.   Our company's product recommendations: https://www.henghuanonwoven.com/product/factory-price-pp-spunbond-nonwoven-fabric-pp-non-woven-fabric

  • How to Choose the Right Weight & Specification of Spunbond Nonwoven Fabric for Your Project Nov 24, 2025
Navigating the technical specifications of polypropylene spunbond nonwoven fabric can be daunting. With terms like GSM, tensile strength, and elongation, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. But fear not! As a trusted polypropylene spunbond nonwoven manufacturer, Henghua Nonwoven is here to demystify the process and empower you to select the perfect material for your application. The most common mistake is choosing a fabric based on price or a single property alone. A holistic view of specifications is key to performance and cost-effectiveness.   1. The Foundation: Understanding Fabric Weight (GSM) What it is: GSM stands for Grams per Square Meter. It is the single most important parameter, indicating the mass (and generally, the density) of the fabric.   Why it matters: GSM directly correlates with: Durability: Higher GSM typically means a thicker, stronger, and more durable fabric. Opacity: A higher GSM fabric is less see-through. Cost: Since you pay by weight, a higher GSM usually means a higher cost per square meter.   Quick Guide: Low GSM (10-30 gsm): Ultra-lightweight. Ideal for disposable medical face mask, bouffant cap and lightweight hygiene covers. Medium GSM (40-80 gsm): The workhorse range. Perfect for shopping bags, agricultural crop covers, furniture backing, and certain geotextile applications. High GSM (90-200+ gsm): Heavy-duty. Used for robust geotextiles, industrial packaging, durable totes, and carpet backing.   2. Matching Strength to Stress: Tensile and Tear Strength What it is: Tensile strength measures the force required to pull the fabric apart. Tear strength measures resistance to ripping once a tear has started. Why it matters: If your fabric will be under tension (like in a heavy grocery bag) or exposed to punctures (like in a geotextile under gravel), strength is paramount. Ask yourself: "Will my product be stretched, pulled, or bear a load?" If yes, prioritize tensile strength. Ask yourself: "Is it likely to get snagged or punctured?" If yes, prioritize tear strength.   3. Considering the Environment: UV Resistance and Additives UV Resistance: Standard polypropylene degrades in direct sunlight. For outdoor applications (agriculture, geotextiles), you must specify UV-stabilized fabric to ensure a long service life. Additives: Fabrics can be customized with additives for: Fire Retardancy: For applications requiring enhanced fire safety. Antistatic Properties: For protecting sensitive electronic components during packaging or manufacturing.   Your Step-by-Step Selection Checklist: To make the process easy, walk through these questions with your team or your supplier: Primary Function: What is the fabric's main job? (e.g., bags, cover, reinforcement, wrapping). End-Use Environment: Will it be used indoors, outdoors, in contact with chemicals, or in a sterile setting? Required Lifespan: Is it for a single-use disposable product or a long-term (e.g., 5-year) project? Physical Stress: What kind of strength is needed? (Tensile, tear, puncture). Regulatory Compliance: Are there specific industry standards it must meet? (e.g., medical, food contact). Conclusion: Partner with Experts for the Perfect Fit While this guide provides a solid foundation, the best way to ensure success is to collaborate with an experienced manufacturer. At Henghua Nonwoven we don't just take orders—we provide solutions. Provide an Ideal Indoor Environment   Control Temperature & Humidity: The warehouse or storage room should be kept cool and dry. We recommend an ambient temperature between 15°C - 30°C and a relative humidity of 50% - 65%.   Ensure Good Ventilation: Maintain adequate air circulation to prevent stuffiness and moisture buildup. Ensure that vents do not introduce external dust.   3. Protect from UV Light and Heat   Avoid Sunlight/UV Rays: Ultraviolet (UV) light is the primary cause of polypropylene degradation. It is essential to store nonwoven fabric in a location completely shielded from direct sunlight. Windows should be covered with blackout curtains or UV-blocking film.   Keep Away from Heat Sources: Store products away from any heat sources such as radiators, boilers, or heaters, as sustained high temperatures can cause material deformation or performance degradation.   4. Follow Stacking Guidelines   Limit Stacking Height: Adhere to the maximum number of stacking layers indicated on the packaging. Over-stacking can exert excessive pressure on the bottom rolls, causing permanent deformation and issues in subsequent processing.   Practice FIFO (First-In, First-Out): Establish and strictly follow a FIFO inventory management system. This ensures that the oldest stock is used first, preventing natural aging due to prolonged storage.   Conclusion: By following these simple storage principles, you can significantly extend the service life of your PP spunbonded nonwoven fabric, and ensure its consistent performance.   Proper storage is not only a protection for the product but also a safeguard for your production efficiency. If you have any questions regarding storage for specific application environments, please feel free to contact our technical team. Henghua Nonwoven are always here to help.
  • Why is PP spunbond non-woven fabric considered an environmentally friendly material? Nov 07, 2025
Spunbond non-woven fabric, also known as polypropylene spunbond non-woven fabric or polypropylene spunbond non-woven fabric, is a new generation of environmentally friendly materials with characteristics such as water repellency, breathability, flexibility, non combustible, non-toxic and non irritating, and rich colors. If this material is placed outdoors and naturally decomposed, its longest lifespan is only 90 days. If placed indoors, it decomposes within 8 years. When burned, it is non-toxic, odorless, and has no residual substances, thus not polluting the environment. Therefore, environmental protection comes from this. PP spunbond non-woven fabric is a type of non-woven fabric made from PP polypropylene as raw material, which is polymerized into a web through high-temperature drawing, and then bonded into a fabric by hot rolling method. Due to its simple process flow, large output, and non-toxic and harmless to the human body. So it is widely used in various fields such as medical hygiene material non-woven fabric, agricultural non-woven fabric, industrial non-woven fabric, packaging material non-woven fabric, etc. 1. Polypropylene material Polypropylene is a commonly used polymer in the spinning process, with main performance parameters including isotropy, melt index (MFI), and ash content. The spinning process requires the isotropy of polypropylene to be above 95%. If it is below 90%, spinning will be difficult. During the polymerization process, three different configurations of polymers can be produced due to the different positions of methyl groups in three-dimensional space. Material: 100% polypropylene fiber Processing method: spunbond method Color: Normally according to the color card provided by the factory, special colors can also be made according to customer requirements (Pantone card can be made) Pattern: Small hole patterns/Sesame dots/Cross patterns/Special patterns (Most of the patterns on the market are small hole patterns, Sesame dots are mostly used for sanitary materials, Cross patterns are used for shoe materials and packaging, and single line patterns are less common.) Features: It is a new generation of environmentally friendly material, which has the characteristics of moisture-proof, breathable, flexible, lightweight, non combustible, easy to decompose, non-toxic and non irritating, recyclable, soluble, waterproof, dustproof, UV resistant, rich color, low price, and reusable. 2. Purpose: Spunbond non-woven fabric is mainly used in medical sanitary materials, agricultural coverings, home textiles and household products, packaging materials, shopping bags and other fields. New products emerge constantly and have a wide range of applications. Such as masks, disposable medical isolation gowns, headgear, shoe covers, diapers, adult urinary incontinence and hygiene products, etc 17-100gsm (3% UV) for agricultural coverage 15-85gsm for home textile lining 40-120gsm for household items 50-120gsm is used for packaging materials 100-150gsm is used for blinds, car interiors, photography background fabrics, advertising fabrics, etc.   By Jacky Chen
